A question I often ask athletes when I work with them is “What percentage of your sport is mental?”  Athletes will usually respond with numbers like “50%” or “75%”.  My follow-up question then is, “And what are you doing to exercise your mental skills?”  Their answer is frequently a long pause followed by them simply stating “Nothing”.

I have experience working with athletes of all competitive levels. I played sports at the collegiate level, coached, and had the privilege of doing extensive research with professional athletes in examining how mental toughness can be maximized in order to improve athletic performance. I have spoken at multiple conferences and consulted with several organizations on the cultivation of mental toughness in athletes, as well as developed programs aimed at developing an athletes’ mental skill set.  As one of the few (if only) clinical psychologists in the country who has experience playing a sport at a high level, coaching, and working in the player evaluation department of a professional sports organization, I have a unique insight into what it takes for an athlete to succeed at any level.  Let me help you hone those mental skills in order to maximize and reach your full athletic potential!
